International Conference on Forensic Sciences 2023

 

Association of Forensic Scientists of Romania organized, at Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest, between October 20-21, 2023, in a hybrid format (in-person and online), International Conference on Forensic Sciences, the XI edition, with the theme „Forensics – The Main Pillar of Judicial Proof in Criminal and Civil Proceedings”. The conference was dedicated to the field of forensics, investigative sciences, police sciences, law, and related disciplines.

The conference program included 80 scientific papers on various topics from different fields of forensic and related sciences: law, forensic psychology, computer science, criminology. 15 invited keynote speakers from Canada, USA, Monaco, Poland, Israel, Greece, Germany, Germany, Italy, Romania, United Kingdom, United States, Monaco, Poland, Israel, Greece, Germany, Italy, Romania), with high international professional recognition, presented scientific papers on the latest and modern methods and techniques of forensic investigation. The scientific papers presented, both by the keynote speakers and by the experts and specialists - speakers from Romania, Ukraine and the Republic of Moldova, in an interactive framework, were appreciated by the participants as being of great interest and of great use, were of high scientific quality and contributed to the realization of a scientific event appreciated both in the country and abroad. As a result of this scientific royalty, numerous messages of thanks were received on the progress and organization of the conference.

The conference was attended by experts and specialists from Canada, USA, Monaco, Poland, Israel, Greece, Germany, United Kingdom, Italy, Ukraine, Republic of Moldova, Romania, from the National Institute of Criminalistics of the General Inspectorate of the Romanian Police, Territorial Forensic Services, National Institute of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of Romania, The National Centre of Forensic Expertise of the Ministry of Justice of the Republic of Moldova - the 3 institutes being traditional partners in the organization of the conference, prosecutors, judges, lawyers, academics, PhD students, master students and students from many faculties and universities in Romania and the Republic of Moldova. Eight Romanian universities, including the „Titu Maiorescu” University of Bucharest, an association and a research centre in Romania, as well as an institute in Israel were also partners in the organization of the conference.

Over the 2 days, approximately 200 people attended the conference in person and around 400 people attended online (via Zoom videoconference), from 12 countries. The papers presented at the conference will be published in the Romanian Journal of Criminology (ISSN 1454-3117) and the Romanian Journal of Forensic Science (ISSN 2069-2617), which is indexed in three international databases: EBSCOhost Research Databases, ProQuest, and WorldCat.

It should be noted the special contribution made by the President of the Association of Criminologists of Romania, Gen.bg. (ret.) Prof. Univ. Dr. Gheorghe POPA, to the organization and success of the conference., Expert criminalist, Professor at the Faculty of Law, Romanian-American University of Bucharest and Doctoral Supervisor within the Doctoral School of Law of IOSUD “Titu Maiorescu” Bucharest, and Mrs. Secretary General of the Romanian Criminalists Association, Col.
