„We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.”

We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors, we borrow it from our children.” To quote an old proverb of the world's cultural heritage, this year we set out to focus our scholarly effort on the patent universality of inheritance law and the complex structure of rights, obligations and controversial practical issues that the regulation of national and cross-border successions generates.Aspects related to the succession debate in the grace procedure, the settlement of conflicts in law and legal actions in matters of succession, the execution of the inheritance, the taxation of succession, the impact of the devolution of succession in the field of intellectual property law, the effects of filiation and medically assisted reproduction, the transfer of goodwill, shares in a company or the continuation of the company's activity, insolvency proceedings, the European certificate of heirship, successions with foreign elements, the effects of the inheritance debate on the civil side of criminal cases or forensic techniques specific to the field, are just a few glimpses of the research horizons generated by the proposed conference theme, multiple topics in these thematic areas, but also in areas of labor law, transportation, constitutional or public international law will be analyzed in the scientific papers that will be selected - topical research topics likely to arouse the interest of both legal theorists and practitioners (lawyers, notaries, magistrates, bailiffs, legal advisors). Neither obsolete, nor in collapse, but constantly topical, given that ”Death is a natural phenomenon in nature; only people make it frightening” (Marin Preda), Inheritances constantly demonstrate legal vitality, being a field that must be permanently adapted to social realities, and the diversity of domestic, European, and international legal norms applicable to successions and the hereditary estate invite us from the sidelines of scientific research to explore them.

In a world where legal systems increasingly interact, and legal experience is subject to constant evolution, we therefore wish to analyze doctrinal foundations together and discover appropriate practical solutions that scientific research, by bringing together the thoughts and creative energies of this conference, will generate within a  upgrade perpetual and necessary to respond to diversity.

We are convinced that this important scientific event will be one of the most prestigious events in the national legal calendar, with international resonance, offering an opportunity to discuss current issues regarding the universality of inheritance law, and which are of reference for society, economic, cultural, and linguistic environments, the legal community, aiming to highlight new solutions and interpretations between legislative tradition and the modern values that accompany us.

Therefore, we invite you to be part of the debate on the most interesting national and international legal topics, attaching to the invitation also a link suggested research areas and themes incident to the conference's topic that may stimulate our appetite for interdisciplinary and exciting research areas.

The conference presentations will take place in plenary and breakout sessions.

INTERNATIONAL LAW CONFERENCE,
European Studies and International Relations, 9th Edition

with the theme

Family and Family Heritage. National, European, and International Legislative Challenges and Perspectives

Titu Maiorescu University-Faculty of Law

Bucharest, May 13-14, 2021

With extensive experience in organizing international scientific events., Titu Maiorescu University launched a new scientific challenge in 2013 by organizing International Conference on Law, European Studies, and International Relations. The first editions featured over 600 scientific papers by renowned professors, researchers, and doctoral students from Romania and abroad. Conducted trilingually, in Romanian, English, and French, the eight editions were attended by over 50 professors from universities in Spain, Italy, France, Israel, Poland, Bulgaria, Morocco, and Germany.

The volumes published within the eight editions of the conference, produced by Hamangiu Publishing House, were distributed to each participant and, subsequently, were distributed to the most reputable professors in Romania, as well as to university libraries. International Law Conference, European Studies and International Relations,  It aims to bring together academics, researchers, university faculty, doctoral and master's students, and finally, legal practitioners, to exchange and share their experiences and research results regarding the most diverse aspects related to reforming legislation in the spirit of new national, European, and international trends regarding the theme proposed for the edition, as well as to discuss the practical challenges encountered and the solutions adopted.

„The family is the oldest of all societies and the only natural one.” J.J. Rousseau said, and this year we have set ourselves the goal of orienting our common scientific effort towards the issue of the family and the complex structure of the patrimonial and non-patrimonial rights and obligations it creates. The history of the family influences its present, both in terms of continuity and in terms of changes and interruptions of tradition. Neither obsolete nor in collapse, the family today demonstrates its vitality and expressiveness, rich in acquired freedoms, but at the same time fragile under the pressure of new challenges. The diversity of domestic, European, and international legal norms applicable to the family and its aspirations opens a vortex of freedoms, powers, rights, and obligations in the domestic and European regulation of families, generating legal conflicts and convergences., who invites us behind the scenes of scientific research to explore it.

We are convinced that this important scientific event will be one of the most prestigious events on the national legal calendar, with international reach, offering an opportunity to discuss current family issues and the legal relationships that arise around this spontaneous but reference structure for society, economic, cultural, and linguistic circles, and the legal community, aiming to highlight new solutions and interpretations.

Therefore, we invite you to be part of the debate on the most interesting national and international legal topics.

The conference papers will be presented in plenary and sectional sessions.
