Titu Maiorescu University an authentic university, open to the future
The start of the academic year is always a joy, a celebration of education and the spirit. The new academic year, 2020-2021, is no exception: it brings with it the joy of a new beginning, a cohort of expectations, emotions, and hopes. But the new start is happening under special conditions, unprecedented in the last century on a global level, at a time when humanity is going through severe trials, and man feels threatened and vulnerable in the face of an unseen enemy, affected in the order and coherence of his existence. Nevertheless, the joy of the beginning remains, because it brings new hope, and the strength of the spirit ultimately prevails. However, it must be doubled by deep reflection, solidarity, and common resistance to regain our right to conceive and conduct our lives in accordance with our projects and dreams, free from threats and servitude, with eyes full of hope towards the future.
In this setting of joy and contemplation, Titu Maiorescu University opens its gates to students, professors, and researchers, to its entire academic community. We are in an important year, 2020, when the University, founded in 1990, celebrates 30 years of existence, three decades of construction and evolution, of education and research, of spiritual and moral training for generations of young people. A European higher education institution through its founding vocation, Titu Maiorescu University is, currently, one of Romania's flagship universities, recognized and respected in Europe and beyond its borders.
Under the spiritual authority of Titu Maiorescu, a European spirit par excellence, founder of modern Romanian culture and civilization, our University was born within the ambiance of Europe's great universities, while simultaneously being deeply rooted in the present of education, research, and knowledge. Complex in structure, the institution comprises ten faculties, a wide range of bachelor's and master's programs that meet an impressive diversity through fundamental fields and new areas of knowledge and specialization, three doctoral schools, postgraduate studies, and two research institutes. The University conducts quality education and scientific research under the banner of excellence and competitiveness, academic and cultural projects, some of which are at the vanguard of their respective fields. A masterful project initiated in the Maiorescian space, unique in the history of Romanian science and civilization, is Romanian Legal Encyclopedia, developed in partnership with the Romanian Academy, through the „Acad. Andrei Rădulescu” Institute for Legal Research.

On a new beginning, under the auspices of the academic jubilee – 30 years of existence – Titu Maiorescu University opens its doors again. Alma Mater Studiorum is once again at the service of those who enter its doors, eager to learn and grow intellectually and spiritually, those who believe in quality education, passionate about study and research, who make knowledge a way of self-edification and becoming. We say WELCOME to the young people who are stepping into the University for the first time and to those returning to continue their studies, to them and to all members of the university community, and we assure them all that they are in a Elite university, where they can fulfill their potential, where they can develop and evolve towards achieving their proposed goals. The meaning of our existence, as an institution, assumed through our academic mission, is to help them on this path, to be with them, to support and encourage them, as professors, mentors, and friends.
Today, as humanity faces unprecedented challenges, we are more convinced than ever that education and knowledge remain the strongest support of the spirit, the formidable means of our struggle against the unknown and any threat, the path to self-salvation and progress. And the University, as an institution of education and research, plays a fundamental role in this process. So let us rejoice!
