Cultural event at Titu Maiorescu University
Surgeon Ellorhaoui My Hassan,
President of the Morocco-Romania Friendship Association,
launched a novel written in Romanian






On May 11, 2023, a special cultural event took place at Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest: Surgeon Ellorhaoui My Hassan, President of the Morocco-Romania Friendship Association, launched a novel written in Romanian. The event took place in the new Senate Hall, an ultramodern space, starting at 5:00 PM, in the presence of an audience composed of professors and students, and was honored by the presence of special guests: the Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary Ambassador of the Kingdom of Morocco to Romania, H.E. Hassan Abouyoub, university professor dr. Sorin Câmpeanu, president of the National Council of Rectors, President of AUF (Agence Universitaire de la Francophonie) and former Minister of Education, and some members of the diplomatic staff. The hosts of the event were university professor dr. Iosif Urs, president of Titu Maiorescu University, and university professor dr. Daniel Cochior, its rector.
Mr. Ellorhaoui My Hassan, a surgeon from Morocco, completed his university studies in Craiova and Bucharest, spending 13 years in Romania. Although he returned to his home country, he remained spiritually and emotionally connected to our country, which he considers his second homeland. He is deeply attached to Romanian culture, civilization, and the Romanian world in general, to our language, values, and customs, loving Romania as his own country. In fact, he declares himself Romanian, alongside his native identity. He speaks Romanian perfectly and, fueled by his love and attachment to our country, he writes in Eminescu's language. The novel launched at Titu Maiorescu University, titled Poker’ s, this is the author's third, following the first two: From Casablanca in Bucharest and I left my heart in Craiova.
Professor Sorin Câmpeanu, President of the Romania-Morocco Friendship Group in Parliament, said that Mr. Ellorhaoui My Hassan is a good friend of Romania, a promoter of our country and of Romanian universities, who organizes cultural events and evenings dedicated to Romanian culture in Morocco and who, by all that he does in this regard, deserves all our attention and thanks. The Rector of the University, Prof. Daniel Cochior, praised the event as an event of special significance, which contributes to the development of cultural and academic relations between Romania and Morocco. President Iosif Urs declared that Mr. Ellorhaoui My Hassan loves Romania „perhaps more than many Romanians” and outlined an essential portrait of him: surgeon, family man, writer, exceptional poet, Romanian consul in Morocco, highlighting his role in the rapprochement and collaboration between the two countries. H.E. Hassan Abouyoub, Ambassador of Morocco, emphasized the contribution of Mr. Ellorhaoui My Hassan, his writings in Romanian and his cultural and academic events in promoting friendship and collaboration between Romania and the Kingdom of Morocco. Prof. Dr. Smaranda Angheni, vice-president of the Titu Maiorescu University, appreciated the Romanian language spoken and written by the doctor-writer, his ability to master its complexity, depth and subtleties, considering that Romania has a good friend in him, who contributes to the development of collaboration between the universities of the two countries. Mr. Tudor Sorin, the director of the University of Craiova's Universitaria Publishing House, which has published his three books so far, gave a brief presentation of his collaboration with the Moroccan writer.
Dr. El Ouahhabi My Hassan stated that he is honored to participate in the launch event of his third book at Titu Maiorescu University. Recalling his Romanian journey, he confessed that he began his studies in Romania, in Craiova, when he enrolled in the preparatory year for the Romanian language in October 1975, that he studied medicine in the capital of Oltenia for the first four years, then in Bucharest, and that, since then, he has become and remained Romanian in soul and heart, promoting Romanian cultural.
Finally, the doctor and writer Ellorhaoui My Hassan signed autographs in expressive and refined Romanian and offered the book to the participants, concluding a memorable cultural event with complex meanings and openings in the development of cultural and academic relations between the two states.
