About Us

The Faculty of Law trains specialists in the field of law who are capable of meeting the demands of contemporary society through solid academic training and a constant focus on practice and professional performance.

Our graduates can access a wide range of legal professions and positions, such as: lawyers, public notaries, judges, prosecutors, bailiffs, insolvency practitioners, legal advisors, civil servants, teachers, scientific researchers.

Undergraduate university studies conclude with the obtaining of a bachelor's degree, organized in-house, recognized both by the Ministry of Education and Research and abroad, in accordance with the law. The bachelor's degree grants graduates access to master's degree university study programs, both within Titu Maiorescu University and within other higher education institutions in the country and abroad.

 

Tradition, accreditation, academic excellence

The Faculty of Law is an integral part of Titu Maiorescu University, a higher education institution founded in 1990, the first non-profit university in Romania.

The performance achieved in teaching, scientific research, as well as in the organization and management of the educational process, provided valid reasons for Titu Maiorescu University to be included among the first accredited higher education institutions by Law no. 239 of April 30, 2002, as a component of the national education system. The Faculty of Law was established in 1990, concurrently with the higher education institution it is part of, operating on a non-profit basis, and was accredited by the same Law no. 239/2002.

 

Mission and vision

The mission of the Faculty of Law consists of ensuring high-level professional training, based on scientific rigor, social responsibility, and openness to European and international legal values. At the same time, the faculty aims to develop the cultural and scientific level of its students, in the spirit of critical thinking and academic integrity.

We aim to train competent, well-rounded legal professionals who are adapted to current legal and social realities, capable of performing effectively in both traditional legal professions and related fields.

 

Skills acquired by graduates

Specifically, the Faculty of Law aims to train lawyers with the following qualities:

  • Thorough mastery of fundamental knowledge of doctrine, legislation, and jurisprudence;
  • The ability to analyze and interpret legal norms.;
  • The ability to construct coherent and well-founded legal-logical arguments.;
  • The ability to formulate well-founded opinions and coherently reasoned solutions, based on facts and law, for litigations brought before the court;
  • The ability to draft legal documents, to conceive claims, defenses, counterclaims, replies to defenses, and other procedural documents within a civil lawsuit;
  • The ability to provide legal assistance and representation in civil and criminal proceedings;
  • The ability to publicly support a cause and advocate professionally.;
  • The ability to draft reasoned decisions and rulings in fact and in law;
  • Advanced specialization in at least one branch of law;
  • Opening to a multidisciplinary approach to various legal institutions;
  • Ability to work effectively in a team;
  • The consciousness of social and ethical responsibility of the legal profession: magistrate, lawyer, public notary, legal counsel, etc.

 

Resources and infrastructure

Currently, the Faculty of Law has all the necessary resources to organize and conduct didactic, scientific research, and practical-applicative activities at the highest quality standards.

 

The professional body consists of specialized teaching staff with relevant academic and professional experience, actively involved in research and legal practice. The activity is carried out in accordance with the standards imposed by the current regulations regarding quality assurance in higher education.

Spaces and facilities

 

The Faculty of Law's activities primarily take place in its ultramodern own headquarters at Calea Văcăreşti no. 187, sector 4 (Building V), but also in Building M, both buildings being constructed to the highest international standards. The buildings, equipped with ventilation systems and exceptional facilities, offer students amphitheaters, seminar rooms, forensics and IT labs, a library, a bookstore, secretarial offices, faculty offices, and space for the activities of the Students' Association. The provided educational spaces are correlated with the enrollment figures and the activities planned in the faculty's curriculum.

Teaching activities take place according to class schedules in 3 amphitheaters with a capacity of 200 seats each and in 15 rooms with a capacity of 30-40 seats each. The amphitheaters and laboratories are equipped with audio-visual technical equipment (video projector, projection screen, laptop, overhead projector) that can be used in carrying out teaching and scientific research activities, video cameras, and air conditioning. All seminar rooms are equipped with audio-visual technical equipment, video cameras, and air conditioning.

The Faculty of Law uses all the material resources of Titu Maiorescu University, which include the University Auditorium, the Media Room, a Copy Center, a Cafeteria-Restaurant with a capacity of 200 seats, a Student Cafe, Student Dormitories, a Medical Campus, and a Student Sports Hall.

Students' acquisition of theoretical knowledge is exemplified by case studies in the forensic science laboratory, legal informatics, legal clinic, forensic medicine, as well as in the simulated processes laboratory where students are interested in applying the learned theory.

The faculty provides students with state-of-the-art, competitive, and highly reliable materials: a computer network, laptops, video and audio technology, televisions, teaching aids, overhead projectors, microscopes, video tapes, CD-ROMs, and forensic kits.

    • 2 computer labs with 50 networked computers and INTERNET connection;
    • 1 state-of-the-art forensic laboratory with latest equipment and facilities;
    • The forensic medicine laboratory is located within the “Prof. Dr. Mina Minovici” Forensic Medicine Institute, at 9 Vitan-Bârzești Road, Sector 4, with collaboration stipulated by an agreement concluded with this institution.
