Founded 25 years ago, the Titu Maiorescu University of Bucharest has been, since its inception, a profoundly innovative institution in the Romanian higher education landscape, both by its courageous approach to fields that are recognized as belonging to public education such as higher medical education and by the originality and multidisciplinarity of its structure. In addition to the medical faculties, our University also has faculties of law, economics, psychology, computer science and other faculties and specializations, currently covering 19 undergraduate degree programs, 25 master's degree programs and two doctoral schools in which teaching and scientific activity is organized in 12 scientific fields.The Faculties of Medicine and Pharmacy of Titu Maiorescu University have not only become one of the most important higher education institutions in the country, but also a medical university center where the life and activity of over 200 professors and almost 2000 students, who dedicate their energy and efforts to each other in teaching, learning and professional performance, are intertwined every day.Today, the Titu Maiorescu Faculty of Medicine represents an academic environment, which both the professors who have served it and the students who have trained here in this quarter of a century have come not only to assume but also to identify it as a model of full professional and social engagement. That is why, without exaggeration, it can be said that the 25th anniversary of the founding of Titu Maiorescu University has a special significance - cultural and even recently historical - for each and every one of us.The origin of this profound significance lies not only in the obvious reality of the quality of our academic body and of our graduates, which even some public medical universities do not enjoy, but also in the very concept of university, which sediments with the passage of time, the educational and social mission through the students” appropriation of the processes of knowledge and the spirit of research, in order to be able to discover new things that allow the evolution of society and medical performance.This has been proven in the years that have passed, through the important participation of teachers and students in the sustained efforts made to affirm and consolidate private medical education in the national university landscape, with many struggles being waged to overcome prejudices and sometimes even petty interests, which were strongly opposed to the recognition and affirmation of a medical school in the Romanian private education system.These performances were also possible thanks to the support provided to Titu Maiorescu University by several first-rate public health institutions such as the CF 1 Witting Clinical Hospital, CF 2 Hospital, the Army Cardiovascular Center ”Acad. Vasile Cândea”, ”dr.Carol Davila” Central Military Emergency University Hospital, Fundeni Clinical Institute, Ilfov County Clinical Hospital, ”N.Malaxa" Clinical Hospital, as well as prestigious private units such as the REGINA MARIA Medical Network, and the Faculty of Medicine currently has partnerships with over 20 clinical hospitals in Bucharest. Together with them, we have managed to establish a Faculty of Medicine with a pronounced entrepreneurial spirit, integrated into the modern trends of globalized higher education, from this point of view we are unique in Romania.Through university autonomy we have managed to achieve performances that were unthinkable 10-15 years ago, such as the fact that we have so far over 1000 graduates or that in recent years approx. 701TPTP4T of our graduates have passed the residency exam, some of them occupying the first places in this competition. Our students have been admitted to the most sought-after medical or surgical specialties, where they have proved that they can be the best, and nowadays they are professing medicine in prestigious hospitals in the country or abroad, or they are holding leading positions in the medical, governmental or international companies.Today, Titu Maiorescu University already means tradition, recognition and academic value. This is first and foremost due to all those, teachers and students, who, through self-sacrifice and professionalism, have become part of the spiritual heritage of the University and who, through their sustained efforts, have made it a landmark of the Romanian university system.I would like to thank with great warmth and trust the students of the Faculty of Medicine of Titu Maiorescu University for their active involvement alongside the teaching staff in all the projects of the faculty and I would like to remind them that their successes are what give us, the professors, our value, because only through them can we confidently affirm that we are a prestigious academic institution.
