Establishment and accreditation

The Faculty of Medicine, operating within the University since 1990, was accredited by Government Decision no. 944, published in the Official Gazette no. 675 of September 11, 2002, for the specialization of general medicine, with a study duration of 6 years, having 360 transferable credits, full-time education.

Initially, the Faculty of Medicine at Titu Maiorescu University had two distinct specializations: General Medicine and Dentistry.

Starting from the 1993-1994 academic year, the dentistry specialization became a self-standing faculty, acquiring the name Faculty of Dentistry.

In 2005, the establishment and authorization of the second specialization within the Faculty of Medicine, namely Nursing, was approved in accordance with the provisions of Law 88/1993 and Government Decision no. 88 of February 10, 2005, through CNEAA letter no. 2207 dated 03.11.2005, a specialization sectorally regulated by the European Community, for full-time education.

In 2009, the Senate UTMdecided, for managerial reasons, to reorganize medical education within UTM by merging the Faculty of Medicine with the Faculty of Dental Medicine, under the title Faculty of Medicine and Dental Medicine, having 4 specializations: medicine, dental medicine, general nursing, and dental technology, which was approved by HG 749, published in MO no. 465, on July 6, 2009.

Starting in 2011, the two medical faculties were separated into two academic structures, the Faculty of Medicine and the Faculty of Dentistry, respectively.

In 2015, the Faculty of Medicine received the highest rating, ”confidence,” from ARACIS. Obtaining this accreditation represents a remarkable achievement, but also a true test for our entire academic community.

The Faculty of Medicine has its own staff who meet the professional qualification requirements for the positions available.
