November 2013, Titu Maiorescu University organized the 7th International Conference on the theme Education and creativity for a knowledge-based society.

At the Rectorate level and in direct collaboration with the faculties, the University's international policy is promoted by the International Relations, Community Programs and Foreign Students Service, which manages the LLP/ERASMUS Program, supports the development of cooperation activities, initiates new partnerships, provides counseling to Romanian and foreign teachers and students. In a very short time, the International Relations Service will develop into a Directorate and will broaden its activity horizon.

Also, each faculty has a representative responsible for international relations, i.e. for the Erasmus Programme. The responsible in the faculty and the Selection and Recognition Committee are directly involved in the selection of students and the recognition and equivalence of studies and placements.

The educational structure of our faculty is consistently in line with the postulates of the Bologna Declaration, including the three compulsory cycles stipulated by the National Education Law, in undergraduate, master's and postgraduate specialization, master's and doctoral studies (in the process of accreditation), as well as lifelong learning programs, rewarded with transferable credits and covered by teachers with the scientific degree of PhD.

The curricula and subject programs have been developed on the basis of a modern, interdisciplinary perspective, in accordance with international standards of higher education in general and medical education in particular, with the aim of training future specialists with a solid specialized training and general culture that places them in an advantageous position in the competition for career success.

More than a simple transfer of knowledge from teacher to student, it creates learning environments and experiences that lead students to discover and create knowledge themselves.

In addition to instructional competences, the study subjects have competences in counseling and facilitating learning processes. In Faculty of Medicine there is continuous work to identify, develop and implement new effective learning techniques. The Medicine program of study has integrated internships in practical training, concurrent with student involvement in research and development projects.

The traditional methods of transmitting information only (through the notice board or in class) have proven over time to be insufficient, so in order to facilitate and streamline the teaching process, special attention was paid to informing students about the means of teaching, learning and knowledge assessment.

The teaching-learning procedures have continuously focused on interactive teaching, on dialog with students, on the importance of the formative side in the teaching activity (questions from the classroom, short presentations or demonstrative experiments). This component, together with the informative one, stimulates creative learning and contributes to the continuous improvement of students' knowledge, skills and competences.

Teachers provide consultations and personalize tutoring at the student's request.

In Faculty of Medicine a tutoring regulation exists and is enforced; there are tutors for each year of study who give consultations according to a weekly schedule.

Mentoring is also carried out through extracurricular activities, such as student scientific circles organized by the 2 departments, which give an image of the aptitudes, the particular skills of a student, and which justify encouraging him/her in a particular field of activity or in a particular function.

The teachers set up a weekly schedule of consultations directly and by e-mail, giving students the opportunity to find answers to various specialized problems, which are related to the tutor's field and beyond.

Thus, teachers, knowing the student's aptitudes and level of preparation, can personalize the teacher-student relationship by guiding the student in choosing the future specialization and in targeting a specific job.

The meeting with graduates and future candidates, which takes place within the „Open Doors” event, gives students the opportunity for a direct dialog with graduates, recently become practitioners in the medical field and provides the most eloquent sample of professional guidance through the strength of the example of the success of our graduates, practicing peer mentoring between students in their final years and other students and between graduates and students.

In this context, on the basis of permanent evaluation of education as a system and process, the Faculty of Medicine is concerned with adapting its educational and research programs to the trends of progress in science, technology and culture, to the needs of Romanian society, as well as with their compatibility with the programs of other universities and other academic and professional bodies in the country or abroad.

Currently, the first specialization of Medicine, accredited by H.G. no. 944 published in the Official Gazette no. 67, day course, operates with a duration of study of 6 years, 360 transferable credits, with over 5800 hours of theoretical and practical training, completed by a licensing exam.

The second accredited specialization of General Medical Assistance, operates according to H.G. 676/2007, day education form with a duration of study of 4 years, 240 transferable credits, with at least 4600 hours of theoretical and practical training, completed by a licensing exam.

The postgraduate courses organized by the Faculty of Medicine follow an annual plan with the following thematic structure: postgraduate course on functional medicine in collaboration with Italian specialists, postgraduate course on laparoscopic surgery, postgraduate course on home care assistant, postgraduate course on resuscitation of the newborn, postgraduate course on the treatment of neo-natal asphyxia, postgraduate course on medical malpractice, postgraduate course on integrative medicine, international postgraduate course in oxygen-ozone therapy, postgraduate course ”prevention and civil society response to bioterrorist attack”.

Currently the collaboration with hospitals has been extended to more than 20 hospital units, based on collaboration contracts, among which we mention: Central Military Emergency University Hospital ”dr.Carol Davila”, Hospital CF 1 Witting, Clinical Institute Fundeni, Clinical Hospital CF 2, Clinical Hospital Ilfov County, Clinical Hospital ”N.Malaxa”, Clinical Hospital Colentina, Clinical Hospital ”dr.Victor Babes”, Center of Cardiovascular Diseases of the Army ”Acad. Vasile Cândea”.

The collaboration with the Private Health Network REGINA MARIA, began with a partnership contract, materialized by the commissioning of the Titu Maiorescu Diagnostic and Treatment Center, located in the M Building, on the ground floor of our university. Thus were laid the foundations of collaboration in the medical field of the teachers who will carry out consultations in the center's consulting rooms and provide free medical services to teachers and students of our university.

We mention, in this context, also the facility offered to all UTM students at the IF whereby they are granted, on the basis of a card, free medical care in the REGINA MARIA Network.
