About us
The Faculty of Computer Science at Titu Maiorescu University asserts itself as an academic structure dedicated to training professionals in the field of Computer Science, within a modern university setting oriented towards performance, research, and innovation. Our mission is to prepare specialists capable of responding to the real challenges of the IT industry, combining solid theoretical knowledge with relevant practical skills.
The Faculty of Computer Science has had a remarkable evolution over more than two decades of activity. From its beginnings, in an expanding field at the start of the 2000s, the faculty has continuously developed its educational offerings by diversifying its study programs and adapting them to the changes in the IT field.
In the 2025-2026 academic year, the following university study programs are organized within the Faculty of Computer Science: license: Computer Science IF (full-time education) and Computer Science ID (distance learning) and masterat: Data Science and Artificial Intelligence and Computer Systems and Information Networks Security.
The accelerated transformations in the field of artificial intelligence directly influence how we prepare future computer science specialists. To respond to these developments, we are constantly updating our curricula, integrating cutting-edge concepts, technologies, and applications. Our curriculum includes subjects such as Python Programming, Data Structures, Fundamental Algorithms, Web Technologies, Artificial Intelligence, Cloud Computing, Machine Learning, Prompt Engineering, Generative Artificial Intelligence, Software Engineering, Mobile Application Development, Computer System Security, and many more.
Benefiting from a faculty with solid academic experience and remarkable research activity, as well as study programs aligned with current labor market demands, we offer students a competitive educational path, based on the latest technologies and methodologies in the field.
At the Faculty of Computer Science, you don't just learn „how technology works,” but How can you create it. We offer access to laboratories equipped with state-of-the-art equipment, specialized software, including access to dedicated platforms, for all disciplines in the curricula. We support student involvement in research activities, participation in European projects, student competitions, workshops, internships, and collaborations with research institutes and leading IT industry companies, facilitating constant professional development. We believe in learning through practice, through real challenges, and through developing a professional portfolio from the very first years of study.
The Computer Science Faculty at Titu Maiorescu University is the ideal choice for those who wish to become IT professionals and contribute to the digital transformation of society. We promote student-centered education, oriented towards the needs and goals of each student, offering a flexible, accessible learning environment adapted to their pace of development. The professors are dedicated, actively involved in the learning process, and provide support whenever needed—from clarifying course material to career guidance or project assistance. We want every student to feel supported, motivated, and encouraged to grow. We are dedicated to preparing a new generation of professionals ready to face the accelerating changes in the world of technology.
Spaces and facilities
The Faculty of Computer Science operates mainly in Building Body M which includes 4 amphitheaters, 6 seminar rooms, 3 computer labs, Main Hall with 600 seats and research rooms, the canteen – restaurant for students, the Diagnostic and Treatment Center in collaboration with Regina Maria private healthcare network (to which all full-time bachelor's program students free medical services subscription), administrative spaces, such as the teachers' lounge and the Faculty secretariat headquarters, as well as in Building Block V, which includes lecture halls, seminar rooms, 5 computer labs, Library “Avram Filipaș”, UTMBookstore, Senate Hall, Media Library Room.
Computer Laboratories They are constantly modernized through the purchase of new workstations (PCs and laptops), dedicated servers, networking equipment, printers (both multifunctional and 3D printers). The software used is licensed and updated. The classrooms are also equipped with video projectors, retractable screens, audio equipment for sound amplification, and magnetic whiteboards.
Modernization was made possible by both internal funds and the acquisition of specialized equipment and software, within the framework of projects carried out at the University level, such as UpDigital projectUTM, as well as at the Faculty level, such as: AI Project#Connect, Project CyberX, Quality in Practice project Thus, all computer labs and the secretariat's headquarters were equipped with State-of-the-art All-in-One equipment, through the UpDigital projectUTM, funded by PNRR, worth 2.6 million euros. For the robotics laboratory, the KINOVA Gen3 Ultralighter robot – with 7 degrees of freedom (DoF) – was recently acquired, also through the UpDigital projectUTM. For disciplines with an experimental and design character, the laboratory was equipped by the company SIEMENS with 6 process computers connected in a network, dedicated SIMATIC STEP 7 Professional training software, 6 LOGO! TRAINING PACK licenses.
The Microsoft Office 365 package with Microsoft Teams is provided free of charge to all students, faculty, and administrative staff. via institutional individual account.
Students have access to educational platformsAWS Academy, Oracle Academy, Databricks Academy, Ipsotek Academy, Palo Alto Networks Academy), Training and research software platform (AI Platform for Images via Data Center for Hybrid Research (on premise + cloud), AI Platform for Images via Ipsotek VISuite AI solution implemented on premises, AI Academic Center#connect, Cloud Cybersecurity Center of Excellence (CyberX).
University Library It is equipped with computers, through which students can consult the lists of bibliographic references, as well as the alphabetical catalog of authors and titles. The continuous development of the IT infrastructure thus offers users the possibility of rapid use of documentary resources. The university has subscriptions to national and international journals, as well as free access to online databases, such as Science Direct, Scopus, Proquest, offering hundreds of thousands of articles, research, and studies in electronic format. Also, as a member of the ANELIS+ consortium, the University also holds subscriptions and offers free access, for both students and faculty, through e-information.ro platform, important resources, such as Clarivate Analytics (formerly Web of Science), IEEE - NOW Foundation ebook collection, Springer ebooks Collections, Elsevier Ebooks, Wiley Ebooks, Policy Commons Complete, DATASWEEP, CEEOL. The publications fund entirely covers the mandatory and optional bibliography for the subjects in the curricula and study programs. The reading rooms provide suitable conditions and spaces for consulting publications, being equipped with modern furniture, meeting the most demanding requirements. The study space includes 307 places for reading, of which 162 are in Building V, computer labs that also function as online documentation resources for students outside of teaching hours, all computers allowing connection to the internet and databases.
At the infrastructure level, Internet access is facilitated through a WIFI network that serves the entire university campus of UTM and ensures easy and secure access for students, faculty, and university visitors alike.
