The raison d'être of DSPP of Titu Maiorescu University, evoked and confirmed at the social level, is the training of teachers needed for all specialties/disciplines in primary, secondary and higher education, to conceive and design activities that contribute to increasing the competitiveness of human resources involved in educational activities in the labor market. In this axiological, methodological and practical perspective, DSPP designs and develops initial and in-service training competences at levels of excellence, which can be utilized throughout the entire teaching career in the sense of lifelong learning and self-education. Therefore, at the heart of the mission of the DSPP Department, UTM is the support and development of young people to achieve the competences defined by the occupational profile of a teacher focused on reflective thinking, continuous professional development, autonomy, responsibility, creativity and expression of their own opinions.

DSPP bases its activity on a strategic plan that has as its priority objective the training and development of the profile of the teaching staff at levels of demand specific to the European Union, in the open context of the knowledge-based society. Acting in an open social context that requires prospective employment at higher levels of competence, DSPP aims to become the main vector of training and professional development of teachers needed by the Romanian education system in the short term, but especially in the medium and long term.

The Department satisfies the demand, coming primarily from the local community, for initial teacher training for pre-school, primary, secondary and higher education at the quality standards existing in European education. The Department aims to provide future graduates with pedagogical, psychological and psycho-social tools, training in pedagogical, methodological, evaluative, communication, pedagogical design, identification and resolution of interpersonal conflicts/problem situations arising in the teaching process.
