Dear colleagues and dear students,<\/strong><\/p>\n

On February 15th, the maiorescian community has the honor of celebrating 185 years since the birth of an emblematic figure of Romanian culture and education. \u2013 Titu Maiorescu,<\/strong> a visionary of his time, a dedicated mentor, and an undisputed landmark of national modernity.<\/p>\n

His name remains synonymous with academic excellence, intellectual rigor, and a reformist spirit over time, qualities that have profoundly influenced the development of education and culture in Romania.<\/p>\n

As a university professor, rector of the University of Ia\u0219i and the University of Bucharest, an exceptional pedagogue, and a man of culture, a prominent politician and statesman (lawyer, essayist, aesthetician, philosopher, literary critic, president of the Conservative Party, founder of the Romanian Academy, president of the \u201eJunimea\u201d Society, Minister of Cults and Public Instruction, Minister of Justice, Minister of Internal Affairs, Minister of Foreign Affairs, Prime Minister), Titu Maiorescu shaped generations of intellectuals and paved the way for high-quality higher education.<\/p>\n

Through his entire activity, Titu Maiorescu instilled a critical spirit necessary for the development of Romanian civilization and culture, being one of the great supporters of authentic values and intellectual progress. His work and principles regarding work, discipline, creativity, and exacting standards form the basis of Romania's modernization, and his cultural legacy continues to be a source of inspiration and a model for us, the maiorescians, and for all who serve education in Romania.<\/p>\n

Titu Maiorescu was a central and important figure in the formation and promotion of great classics of Romanian culture and literature, such as Mihai Eminescu, Ion Luca Caragiale, Ioan Slavici, Ion Creang\u0103, Alexandru Vlahut\u0103, Vasile Alecsandri, Duiliu Zamfirescu, George Co\u0219buc, Barbu \u0218tef\u0103nescu Delavrancea, and many others. For his contribution to emancipation through education and development through culture of society, Titu Maiorescu is considered the founder of Romanian culture and civilization.<\/p>\n

Dear colleagues and dear students,<\/strong><\/p>\n

For Titu Maiorescu University, this anniversary is a time of homage and an important occasion to reaffirm our commitment to carrying forward the ideals and vision of the person after whom we are named. With the same passion and responsibility, we dedicate ourselves to training new generations of professionals, keeping alive the maiorescian spirit of excellence, integrity, and innovation.<\/p>\n

On this day of great significance, I urge you all to reflect on the values we promote and to proudly assume the responsibility of carrying forward the *Maiorescian* legacy, contributing through our effort, our endeavor, and through quality education and culture, and the academic formation of new generations, to the evolution of Romanian society and civilization.<\/p>\n
