The speech of Mr. Prof. Dr. <\/span><\/strong>Daniel Cochior, Rector of Titu Maiorescu University,
at the opening of the 19th edition of the International Conference \u201eEducation and Creativity for a Knowledge-Based Society\u201d<\/span><\/strong><\/h3>\n

\u201cDear guests, distinguished participants, dear colleagues, and dear students,<\/strong><\/p>\n

Today, we open the proceedings of the XIX edition of the International Conference \u201eEducation and Creativity for a Knowledge-Based Society,\u201d an event that brings together the efforts of Titu Maiorescu University to consolidate a scientific culture oriented towards rigor, innovation, and responsibility.<\/p>\n

This year's conference reaffirms Titu Maiorescu University's commitment to developing as a modern and responsible institution, prepared to contribute to societal progress and play an active role in the national and European research landscape.<\/p>\n

At the heart of the academic transformation we are pursuing is the development of institutional research capacity. The university must function as an integrated organism, where infrastructure, human resources, academic and organizational policies, as well as a culture of professional ethics, act coherently to produce scientific value.<\/p>\n

Although we want to further develop its research infrastructure, research capacity is not reduced to a collection of laboratories and equipment, but implies the maturation of an institutional structure capable of generating continuity, stimulating creativity, and supporting ambitious projects, both at national and international levels.<\/p>\n

Consolidating this capacity represents an investment in the university's future, its academic strength, and its contribution to the national and international research environment.<\/p>\n

In this process, the university's research institutes play an essential role. They are convergence spaces, where disciplinary expertise meets interdisciplinarity, where ideas are validated, and where the scientific communities that define our university's academic identity are identified and formed.<\/p>\n

We are concerned with identifying and defining the existing research human capital within faculties, discovering the real potential of teams, leveraging and stimulating talents, and young researchers in projects of national and international relevance. In other words, we have the mission to create true environments for mentoring and scientific training, in which teaching staff, researchers, doctoral students, master's students, and undergraduate students are integrated into a university research ecosystem with constant upward evolution.<\/p>\n

In such a context, international collaboration is not a secondary objective, but a pillar of development. The university must expand its presence in research networks in Europe and around the world, participate in joint projects, engage in scientific consortia, and assume the role of an active partner in collaborations with established institutions.<\/p>\n

International collaboration is not just a means of recognition, but also a tool through which the university creates real access to the EU's research strategy, framework programs, innovation opportunities, and European scientific infrastructures.<\/p>\n

At the same time, the current context presents universities with one of the most important challenges of the century: the integration of artificial intelligence in research. This technology is transforming the way we work, analyze, interpret data, and build knowledge. AI offers remarkable opportunities for accelerating discoveries, reducing costs, expanding analytical capabilities, and developing research methodologies that were impossible with traditional means.<\/p>\n

Researchers can utilize advanced models to identify complex phenomena, generate predictive scenarios, integrate massive databases, and develop innovative solutions in medicine, psychology, technology, law, economics, or educational sciences, especially with the help of computer science specialists.<\/p>\n

At the same time, artificial intelligence poses risks that must not be ignored. Decision automation can diminish the role of human judgment, alter researcher autonomy, change the balance between freedom and influence, and transform research into a process overly dependent on algorithms. In this regard, the university must be the guardian of responsible use of emerging technologies, ensuring the balance between innovation and ethics, between efficiency and responsibility, between creativity and rigor.<\/p>\n

Through our institutional capacity, our research institutes, the international partnerships we build, and our clear approach to technological challenges, we reaffirm the university's mission to train competent professionals, authentic researchers, and citizens aware of their responsibility to society.<\/p>\n

\u00a0Dear colleagues and distinguished participants, I declare the Conference open and invite you to participate with confidence, energy, and creativity in the working sessions. May the ideas presented today turn into projects, and may the projects turn into scientific achievements worthy of the potential that Titu Maiorescu University cultivates.\u201d<\/strong><\/p>\n
